OF THE MORNING TO YA! I remember my first St.Patricks parade, I thought I was going to see Santa Claus standing in front of my Mom as the bands went by us. All over was a sea of green, hats and coats, waving flags. The bagpipes awesome sound always brings back these memories. On St-Catherine St. in Montréal the tradition still holds today. The center line is painted green for the occasion. The revelers arrive early staking out their favorite spot. Did you know that some families have been returning to the same corner since 1824? |
here's
the scene... The crowd is particularly GREENED singing Irish songs like "Oh Danny Boy" and "When Irish eyes are smiling." Party people are dashing in an out of bars and restos. Green plastic shillelaghs are filled with a potion mixed by leprechauns. wow! Many establishments have live music and the theme is definitely green. Emerald Green St-Patrick's Day ! "Kiss Me I'm Irish" "Irish Coffee" "Luck of the Irish" are the buzz words heard on parade day. green |
